FR. DONAT LAMOTHE A.A.With heartfelt good wishes and prayers for continued blessings, the Augustinians of the Assumption, family and friends of Fr. Donat Lamothe, A.A. recently celebrated his 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.

A Mass of Thanksgiving in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Assumption College in Worcester, MA was followed by a joyous reception.

Congratulations to Fr. Donat!

ASSUMPTION COLLEGE WELCOMES PHILIPPINE TEACHERS PDF Print E-mail

Assumption College Welcomes Philippine TeachersSix teachers from the International Language School in Manila are presently participating in the newly established Assumption College TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate Program. This new effort is the result of the collaboration between the College and our Assumptionist delegation in the Philippines.

This two session program, which runs through June 14th, will also include a weekly morning practicum at St. Peter’s Parish’s ESL program in Worcester, MA during the second session.

A DAY FOR ASSUMPTIONIST FAMILIES AND CLOSE FRIENDS PDF Print E-mail

On Sunday, April 29, 2012,  the Assumptionists invited their families and close friends for an informal gathering at Assumption College. We celebrated the Eucharist and then enjoyed a plentiful brunch.

Although this event coincided with the Dedication of the new Tinsley Campus Ministry Center, the objective was simply to provide an occasion to be with those we care for and who care for us.  We rarely have such an opportunity to share in this way and to thank those dear to us for their love and support.

Fr. PHILIP BONVOULOIR, A.A.With sadness yet with Christian hope and trust, we share with you the news of the sudden death of Father Phil Bonvouloir, A.A.  He was recently diagnosed with cardiac difficulties, and was found on Saturday morning (April 28, 2012) in his room at the rectory at Saint Anne Saint Patrick Parish in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where he had been re-assigned as Associate Pastor for the last years of his life.

Friday at 4 p.m., Assumption College will celebrate the dedication of the new Tinsley Campus Ministry Center, a recent addition to the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.  The celebration will begin with a brief ribbon-cutting, followed by a dedication Mass, celebrated by Bishop McManus, and the blessing of the building.

Fiskdale, MA to Uganda / Lugazi Diocese PDF Print E-mail

TerryAs Lent approached, Fr. Peter Precourt, our Pastor, informed us of the request  to support a new Assumptionist parish in Uganda.

As coordinator of our religious education program at St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish, I suggested that the children in our program take on the challenge of raising money to help as part of their almsgiving during Lent.

Teachers shared the information about Uganda and pictures obtained by Fr. Sal, with the children in their classes.

Fr. Emmanuel d’AlzonThis sheet is intended to connect all those who are collaborating, or are simply interested, in the cause of Fr. Emmanuel d’Alzon’s beatification. Its contents aim at providing information on what is happening in different countries, at passing on testimonies of those who have received favors and of possible miracles obtained through Fr. d’Alzon’s intercession, and at proposing certain texts to assist in doctrinal or pastoral reflection on this cause.

It will appear every three months in French, English, Spanish and Dutch. And in order that it have a truly international character, we have to maintain continual communication with all those collaborating in the cause.

Inauguration of the Gymnasium at Manuel d’Alzon High School in LotaIn the presence of the Mayor, Jorge Venegas, regional and Church authorities, the new gymnasium of Manuel d’Alzon High School in Lota was official inaugurated.

It was in the context of the Bicentennial projected adopted in 2010 to improve the institution’s infrastructure that it was decided to foresee a gymnasium that could house a variety of sporting, recreational and cultural activities. he project also included the construction of Learning Resources Center, the construction and organization of a language and mathematics laboratory, and the equipping of classrooms with digital blackboards and multimedia projectors.

As we rapidly come to the end of yet another academic year, “Conversations at the Assumptionist Center” in Brighton, MA concluded this year’s series of six thematic presentations by inviting Sr. Margaret Leonard of the Little Sisters of the Assumption. Throughout her religious and ministerial life, Sr. Margaret has faithfully, energetically, consistently and passionately sought to further the mission of Assumption’s “zeal for the Kingdom” by striving to create a world that is just by lifting up the voices of the poor. She has been the Executive Director of Project Hope since 1985.
