SATURDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF EASTER PDF Print E-mail

.

You are also invited to participate in the Daily Mass online at worcesterdiocese.org

The following can be prayed alone or with family members in your household.

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son (+),
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

PENITENTIAL ACT
Brothers and sisters,
let us acknowledge our sins.

A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general confession:

 I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

OPENING PRAYER
Let us pray.

O God, who in the font of Baptism
have made new those who believe in you,
keep safe those reborn in Christ,
that, defeating every onslaught of error,
they may faithfully preserve the grace of your blessing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
That in these days,
the Church might be built up anew
and walk in the fear of the Lord.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For our priests,
especially those who have volunteered
for extraordinary ministry to the sick,
that they may be protected from all harm.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

I’m sure we are not all control freaks, but the inclination to want to have control over things is alive and well in most of us. This is what makes a pandemic regime so difficult, where large swaths of our lives have fallen out of our careful management and uncertainties abound. To the surprise and bemusement of my housemates here in Brighton, I vociferously gave voice to my feelings at dinner last week, “I HATE THIS!”

Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that we, who have come to know
the grace of the Lord's Resurrection,
may, through the love of the Spirit,
ourselves rise to newness of life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
For all ministers in the Church, that like Ananias,
they might follow the directions of the Lord
and bring healing and new life in His name.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

That those in government service
might seek out justice for all,
especially the poor and forgotten.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
