PENITENTIAL ACT
Brothers and sisters,
let us acknowledge our sins.

A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general confession:

 I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

OPENING PRAYER
Let us pray.

O God, who open wide the gates of the heavenly Kingdom
to those reborn of water and the Holy Spirit,
pour out on your servants
an increase of the grace you have bestowed,
that, having been purged of all sins,
they may lack nothing
that in your kindness you have promised.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
For the shepherds in the Church,
that, like Stephen,
they may give fearless witness
to the power of the risen Lord.

That in all the storms of life
we might turn to the Lord
who alone is our rock of refuge.

For the Elect
and all those longing for Easter sacraments,
that their hunger and thirst may soon be satisfied.

For all who are in a time of testing and distress,
especially the sick
and their families who are separated from them,
that the Lord may hide them in the shelter of His presence
and let His face shine upon them.

That all who have died
may come to the eternal banquet of the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

LORD’S PRAYER
At the Savior’s command
and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER
Let us pray.

Look with kindness upon your people, O Lord,
and grant, we pray,
that those you were pleased to renew by eternal mysteries may attain in their flesh
the incorruptible glory of the resurrection.

DIOCESAN PRAYER IN TIME OF PANDEMIC
O God,
whose Only Begotten Son
bore the weight of human suffering for our salvation,
hear the prayers of your Church
for our sick brothers and sisters
and deliver us from this time of trial.
Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your Son:
Be not afraid, for I am with you always.

Bless all doctors and nurses, researchers and public servants;
give us the wisdom to do what is right
and the faith to endure this hour,
that we might gather once again to praise your name
in the heart of your Church,
delivered from all distress and confident in your mercy.
