«Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations» (Mt 28 :19). Having adopted this motto, the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro is preparing to welcome thousands, perhaps millions, of young people for World Youth Day, July 23-28, 2013.
It will be a time of faith, of fellowship, of exchange, of building up, characterized by the meeting of faces and cultures from the four corners of the world with one goal alone : an encounter with Jesus Christ and the extension of his Kingdom.
The next in our series of discussions on the documents of Vatican II will take place

This video is a tribute to the life and ministry of Fr. Richard Brunelle, A.A. with the accompanying Letter from the Brothers in Africa which was read at his funeral.
(Br. Milad is an Egyptian Assumptionist who currently works at the Assumptionist barge community on the River Seine near Paris, a community that serves the poor, especially immigrants. Br. Milad holds a doctorate in Sociology from the University of Paris X- Nanterre granted in 2008.)
This story began about two years ago when two provincials at the time were meeting and discussing different topics, Fr. Benoît Grière of France and Fr. Vincent Kambere of Africa. It was at that moment that the possibility of my teaching a couple of courses at ISEAB arose as a form of collaboration between the two provinces. It is a grace and an opportunity for me to have the Assumption ask me to share some of the knowledge I gained before entering the Congregation. It was also a joy to be able to discover the Assumption on this vast continent that I belong to, since I am originally from Egypt. Besides, it is the dream of every Egyptian to see the source of the Nile!
If you are like me, your email inbox is often over-stuffed. Like our traditional mailboxes stuffed with ads, flyers and donation requests, we find ourselves in the same position with emails. It’s not too difficult for me to exceed over 150 emails! I want to make sure they are not important, or worth saving, before I delete them. One such email was from a health newsletter that questioned, “Is silence dangerous to your health?”
WORCESTER – Rev. Richard P. Brunelle, AA, 77, of Emmanuel House at Assumption College, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Saint Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill.
The Rule of St. Augustine with a focus on ‘community’ was the theme of this month’s “Conversations at the Center” in Brighton, MA. The presenter, Fr. Claude Grenache, A.A., superior of the local community, shared several citings from the Rule of St. Augustine which touch the hearts and minds of Assumptionists and the way they live on a daily basis. It was Fr. Emmanuel d’Alzon’s choice to adopt St. Augustine’s Rule when he founded his congregation of Augustinians of the Assumption.
By Fr. Lucas Chuffart, A.A. Moscow, December 2, 2012
During the 2011-2012 year, I was able to send some news from our communities in Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Israel where I spend a part of the sabbatical year I had been granted. It all began right where the Congregation did here in 1862, that is to say, Istanbul.
Making full circle, so to speak, of the Near Eastern Mission, here I am in Moscow, the northernmost city of the Mission. I was only able to get here on November 22 since the visa paperwork which I officially began in August met with frustrating delays, perhaps because I was asking for a resident’s visa in view of religious activity at our parish, St. Louis des Français. Others much less patient than I have also become discouraged with this process. On the advice of Fr. Slava Gorokhov, I had begun preparing all my documents in June, but only received my visa on November 15.
