PENITENTIAL ACT
Brothers and sisters,
let us acknowledge our sins.

A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general confession:

 I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

OPENING PRAYER
Let us pray.

God our Father, who by sending into the world
the Word of truth and the Spirit of sanctification
made known to the human race your wondrous mystery,
grant us, we pray, that in professing the true faith,
we may acknowledge the Trinity of eternal glory
and adore your Unity, powerful in majesty.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
For the ordained and those about to be ordained, that, like Moses, they may be ever ready to ascend the mountain to intercede for God’s people.

That Christians everywhere might learn to encourage one another, agree with one another and live in harmony.
We pray to the Lord.

That those who govern might be attentive to the voices of their people and find ways to lead them along paths of justice and peace.

For those who are sick, hungry, poor, or grieving, that God might show them His tender mercy,

That the faithful departed might come to eternal joy in the embrace of the most Holy Trinity.

LORD’S PRAYER
At the Savior’s command
and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER
Let us pray.

May receiving the Sacraments, O Lord our God,
bring us health of body and soul,
as we confess your eternal holy Trinity and undivided Unity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

DIOCESAN PRAYER IN TIME OF PANDEMIC
O God,
whose Only Begotten Son
bore the weight of human suffering for our salvation,
hear the prayers of your Church
for our sick brothers and sisters
and deliver us from this time of trial.
Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your Son:
Be not afraid, for I am with you always.

Bless all doctors and nurses, researchers and public servants;
give us the wisdom to do what is right
and the faith to endure this hour,
that we might gather once again to praise your name
in the heart of your Church,
delivered from all distress and confident in your mercy.
