I arrived at Our Lady of Lourdes as a Freshman in the Fall of 1964, and remained until the Spring of 1967, after which time we were sent off to Worcester to continue our education. However, strong ties to that 160 acres always remained for me.
For 3 or 4 summers after we closed as a school, I would return to work during the vacation break as an electrician for the John XXIII Center.

Years later, after a change in life's direction, I would visit whenever in the area with my wife.
Then one year (I think it was in the late 1970's) we drove up to the campus and discovered that the property had been sold to a government agency and was being operated as a job training center. A rather serious looking guardhouse had been built at the very bottom of that long curved drive. I told the guard that I had been a student there when it had been a seminary, and asked if we might be allowed to see the grounds, since there were so many memories.
The guard replied, "You can't come in here! This is GOVERNMENT property!"
