The community of the Assumptionist Center, that is the religious, residents and staff, gathered last Friday to officially begin the new academic year by observing Adveniat Day. Both new members and those who have returned began our Adveniat evening with prayer, followed by a welcome by Fr. Simon who is the superior of the house. Raphael Yabut, our interim resident coordinator while Bro. Blair is on sabbatical, then asked us to reflect and discuss in small groups what has nourished our community life during the past year and what are the areas in which we need to grow. This activity was followed by an interactive, energetic and hope-filled open discussion by the whole group. Michelle topped off the gathering with another one of her outstanding dinners. Let the year begin!

The Church has been celebrating the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) since 1914. It is always an occasion to express concern for different vulnerable people on the move; to pray for them as they face many challenges; and to increase awareness about the opportunities that migration offers.
Every year the WDMR is the last Sunday of September; in 2021 it will be celebrated on 26 September. As the title for his annual message, the Holy Father has chosen Towards an ever wider “we”.
