A young man in his 30’s arrived at our shelter in El Paso in March 2022. He fled his home country of Nicaragua to escape a country that does not respect human rights and that mistreats you and eventually kills you, if you do not agree with its communist government. The journey to the U.S is not easy. He explains:
“It’s very risky and difficult to get here. It’s very sad because you have to pass through many countries, and when you get inspected by the immigration law enforcement and the cartels, some are lucky, and some are not. It’s very tiring; you travel by day and by night, and you pass through very dangerous places. So we fear for our lives, and we fear for our families.” When he arrived at our shelter after the risky and unpredictable journey, he told us, “Well, I feel at home here. I do! As some friends and I were just saying, for me, you are angels that God has placed on our journey, because God does not abandon anyone.”
This is just one story of so many that experience similar experiences of pain and heartache as they travel to the states, and once they arrive, feel safe and at home in our shelter. Think of how many migrants, after being treated like animals elsewhere, would welcome a clean shower, a changing room with clean clothes and medical attention. To show them that as Christians, we will not treat them as animals, but as God’s beloved children – “the least of His brothers and sisters.”
It will take us $11,700 to complete this project. Your generous donation will remind the migrants we support, that people care, that they are not alone, and that they have not been abandoned- God’s love is with them! You have the power to become an Angel of Hope for those who have suffered so much. Please be as generous as you can for this worthy cause.
It would be tremendously helpful to us if you could forward this to your friends and family through social media or email. We know that not everyone can afford to give a donation to help those in need but there is a way to give that is just as important, if you put this on Facebook, others may be able to give and you will have given in the most important way!
Thank you for your prayers and generosity!
