Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7

Father, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Fr. James Brooks - cure
Please, I am asking for prayers for the very young and much loved priest at my parish (St. Margaret of York, Loveland, OH), Fr. James Brooks. He was just recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Because I, and many of my relatives attended the Bishop Baraga Catholic School in Cheboygan, MI, we have a long history of praying for the Bishop\'s intercession for the healing of local people. I began praying for the intercession of Bishop Baraga for Fr. James\' complete healing once I learned of his stiuation last week. Crazy thing is, unknown to me, our senior priest, Fr. Jan Schmidt, days later, asked our entire parish to start praying for Bishop Baraga\'s intercession as well! In my small-town mentality, I thought northern Michigan folk were the only ones who knew about Bishop Baraga! I have since learned that Archbishop Dennis Schnurr, head of our archdiocese of Cincinnati, requested all priests in the Cincinnati-area to pray for Bishop Baraga\'s intercession for Fr. James. I didn\'t remember the connection from my childhood, but now know that Fr. Baraga came to the U.S. from Europe at the request of the Bishop of Cincinnati and began his missionary work in Michigan after serving in Cincinnati. Perhaps you are aware of Venerable Bishop Baraga\'s cause for sainthood? Fr. James has touched the hearts of SO MANY people here in Cincinnati. He is a holy, loving, dynamic priest. He has been instrumental in aiding my family in particular with his guidance and deep love for our Lord. I humbly ask for your prayers for a cure for the cancer suffered by Fr. James, through the intercession of Venerable Bishop Baraga. Thank you so much for your help, Shelly
