ANNUAL ASSUMPTION DAY |
![]() |
This year’s theme of Christian vocation as God’s ‘call to answer’ to all the baptized was addressed by Sr. Nuala Cotter, R.A., Provincial Superior of the Religious of the Assumption and Michelle Sherman, M.A., Director of the Associate Missionaries of the Assumption (AMA) and Vocation Promoter for the Religious of the Assumption. The specific title of the morning’s focus, “Avoiding Folly: Responding to the call to be Truly Oneself” was inspired by Sr. Marie Eugenie, R.A., foundress of the R.A.s. According to her, it is folly or foolish for anyone not to be true to oneself or the person God has called us to be, which is a process of discernment for the Christian heart. As men and women charged with the education and care of young adults in particular, we need to assist them in discerning their vocations by being willing to share our own stories in their familiar, comfortable settings and making use of appropriate media. In addition we need to fine tune our listening skills, be open to dialogue, invite reflection, stress God’s initial invitation and the need for quiet in ones life. Following the presentations and the sharing of recommended resource, thought provoking questions were provided for fruitful table discussions. ![]()
