5 Causes to Support this Giving Tuesday Print

Easter celebrations at our parish in Tlilapan, Veracruz, which serves the poor and indigenous populations

“Nothing brings down more blessings from above than thanking God for what he has done for us already...and the more sincere, loving and spontaneous our thanksgiving the more abundantly will he pour his blessings into our hearts, until that day when we will receive that gift of gifts once and for all, God himself!” - Venerable Emmanuel d’Alzon

In this season of giving thanks, we are especially grateful for the benefactors who support us and the works that we sponsor; whether it’s a school for children affected by violence in the Congo, pastoral ministry with the indigenous communities in Mexico, or ministry with migrants here in our very own country - we have you to thank for the continuation and success of these ministries.

Knowing the varied interests and passions of our benefactors, we’ve compiled a list of 5 unique causes for those who would like to participate in Giving Tuesday. We invite you to prayerfully consider supporting the cause that is closest to your heart:

1. Migrant Ministry in El Paso, TX

Your donation will go directly to our new foundation at St. Francis Xavier Parish in El Paso, TX, and will support initiatives to meet the spiritual and material needs of migrants and aid in the continued establishment of our presence at the U.S./Mexico border.

2. Education in Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Your donation will support the Assumptionist-run Prince of Peace School, which currently serves 683 students, many of whom have been personally affected by the violence in the Beni region. Donations allow for continued scholarships for needy children and construction of additional classrooms.

3. Education in Nairobi, Kenya

Your donation will support the Assumptionist-run Assumption High School, a new institute of secondary education that serves almost 100 students in the poor outskirts of Nairobi. The school is in urgent need of a multipurpose hall that  can be used for meals, meetings, celebration of Eucharist, motivational talks and school meetings.

4. Retirement Needs in the North American Province

Your donation will support the various needs of our retired religious. These funds go to medical expenses, the upkeep of our retirement facilities, activities for our elder brothers, and the transition towards assisted living when needed.

5. Formation of Young Assumptionists in the North American Province

Your donation will provide imperative support for our young brothers in formation who are studying for priesthood or specialized ministry. With high tuition prices, donations of any size to this fund are always appreciated and make a lasting impact in the lives of our student brothers.
