His Eminence Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales among members of the Assumptionist Community in Brighton and their guests

The Assumptionist Center in Brighton opens its doors to many visitors. On Saturday afternoon and evening (September 30), we were happy to receive the visit of Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, the Archbishop of Manila, Philippines. The Cardinal was in the Boston area to visit and pray with his brothers and sisters in the Filipino-American community and to promote his Pondo ng Pinoy program to feed the poor and provide for the needs of the disadvantaged.

The Assumptionists have recently established our first foundation in the Philippines and have just opened Adveniat House in Manila. So it was a great joy for us to welcome Cardinal Rosales to our home. The community was joined by Father Fr. Reginald R. Malicdem, DD, the Cardinal’s secretary and Father Celistino Pascual, DD, who is responsible for the Archdiocesan ministry to the Filipino-American community, as well as our new Pastor, Monsignor William Fay of Saint Columbkille’s, and Sister Mary Ann Azanza, R.A., recently named Provincial Superior of the Religious Sisters of the Assumption and Father Dennis Gallagher, Regional Superior of the Assumptonists in the United States. After Evening Prayer together in our Chapel, we enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing evening of food and conversation. Thank you, Your Eminence, for blessing us with your visit!
